Entry: Edinburgh box! Saturday, August 20, 2005

I'm typing this in an internet phone box at the top of Rose St in Edinburgh. The keys are tiny and poxy, so please excuse any spelling mistakes!!

Just finished my second event at the festival. The first, "The birth of Darren Shan" was OK, but not great -- it took longer to tell than I thoght, so I had to rush it a bit, and there wsn't as much time for Q&A as I'd haveliked, and I had to cut the Song from it!!! But at least the fans were patient, and I enjoyed the signing afterwards. I knew I wouldn't enjoy this event as much as one of my normal ones, but I like to trynew things every so often!!

I enjoyed my "Demonata" event much more. I read out extracts from the next 3 books inthe series, answered LOTS of questions, and got to sing my "Darren Shan is just the man ..." song at the end!!! Had a bigger crowd than last year, which was great!! Thanks for everyone who came, and especially those who waited so patiently to hve their books signed!!!!!

I'm staying on in Edinburgh for a few days, to enjoy the festival, so it might be a while before I post here again ...

	Death Star December 4, 2006 09:51 PM PST Wow this book is great.I love this series.u could grow up to be a better writer than Steven King.I live in Illinois and only get books at the library.I have always liked horror stories.Its weird just like darren in the book calls crepsly sick so does my mum call me sick because I like vampires.its totally weird.

	Bobby Bruce August 22, 2005 10:47 AM PDT I was there! It was amazing and I got my Lord Loss book signed too (thats Darrens new book in Britian for you foriners). He wrote "Lord Loss has his evil, bloodthirsty eye on you" in mine and of course his signature. His song was the tune to supercalafragalistespealedosios (Marry Poppins) and made it "Darren Shan is just the man for Horrer so attrosios". It actually worked quite well and wasn't nearly as cheesy as I thought it would be. There were some really stupid questions asked though. One girl asked if he watched Docter Who, the tv show. Darren was quite polite and said that he dosn't watch a lot of tv but usually buys these things on DVD.

It's a wonderful change reading about a writer's life rather than the normal boring i-woke-up-today-brushed-my-teeth kind of blogs. Your blog provided a behind-the-scenes in-depth view for people like me who only read books but rarely appreciates the effort behind them. By the way, finished your Darren Shan's series sometime ago and recommended it to some of my friends.
